The following was written by request for a speech

One year ago on this day I was asked to be
a godmother to my darling Axle no-one was prouder than me
Public speaking was not mentioned as a duty I would have to do
So today I am very nervous speaking to folk like you

I needed some support of the verbal kind
So I turned to the internet to see what I could find
So although these words are not all penned by me
The sentiments within are what I want them to be

I thank (name of the parents) for making me a part of this day
And I am so very proud to be involved in Axle’s life in any little way
We are all here today because of this little boy
I am sure you will all agree he has brought us all much joy
